7-10 days wildlife and cultural safaris that give an amazing time with African wildlife and the Masai people of southern Kenya, inclusive purely cultural interactive days during the walking part in the heart of Masai-Land. Activities can be such as spear shooting by Masai, Oringa (Masai Club) throwing, bloodletting, making fire with two sticks, Masai dances, visiting schools and the Masai houses and villages among many other activities of the Masai people.

Its organized based on your ability to walk, ranging from 11 – 19 kilometers per day with breath taking views, picnic and siestas under the shed in the most fascinating rolling hills of Loita. For families with children, the daily range can be adapted according to the children age and walking abilities.

It’s ideal for this Safari to arrive in Nairobi in the evening and have a night after the long flight before the 6hrs drive from Nairobi to the Masai Mara. (Note: the program can be changed according to the wishes of the clients)

  • Day 1: Nairobi to the Masai Mara game reserve on the road.(The Masai Mara is also accessible by flight for people wishing to avoid the long day on car at extra cost.)

    After leaving Nairobi, the first breathtaking view is the rift valley before crossing the floor of it by a descend of more than 1000 meters. Lunch at Narok, the headquarter of Narok county, then proceed to Masai Mara. Night in a lodge or in tents in the Masai Mara, according to your wishes.

  • Day 2 and 3

    Enjoy best experiences in the middle of wildlife and Savannah plus the unbelievable sunrise and sun-downer in the open grassland with the solitary acacia balanite and visit the rivers with the Nile crocodiles and Hippopotamus. In July, August and September chances are very high that you can witness the wildebeest crossing the Mara river.

  • Day 4 to 9

    Early in the morning we will leave the Masai Mara and drive to Loita Hills (about 5 hrs drive). We start our walk or camp after the long drive (must be decided individually). The following days we walk through the dense forest which is a primary forest, Masai Land, visit Masai villages and interact with Masai to learn their culture and tradition. During our walks we will see the Hatlaub turacos as well as the Columbus monkeys and the biggest highland trees e.g. Podo-carpus, Olea africana,Juniperus, tarbonae montana etc

  • Day 10

    We walk down the Rift Valley. From there, the car will pick us up and we drive through a semi-arid land with a different vegetation. We will see the salt Lake Magadi with hundreds of lesser and greater flamingos and all other lake birds like pelicans, heron egrets etc.

    PS: This Safari can be organized with either more days in the Masai Mara or in Loita Hills, according to your area of interest
